Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Turdy Character in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have found plenty of entertaining independent titles. However, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop trying to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is simple: you only need a jump control. In one hundred fifty levels, you'll face mini-bosses and access a store to purchase customizations for your dung hero.

Plan your movements precisely, since one mistake forces starting over. Leap off floating orbs to launch yourself higher, navigate disappearing surfaces, and touch buttons to open new areas. Earn UN-KOINS for buying challenging game content as things ramps up.

Visually, the demo features eye-catching environments and a killer background music. The simple graphics featuring moving geometric shapes could recall gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although hard to think of similar titles where you control a piece of feces, video games frequently incorporated fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as soil enrichment. And of course, fecal references is present heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly concept, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, like taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game set to debut on PC in the fall.
